PEPTIDE APPROACH TO TREATING ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE

 

ProteoTech is one of a few companies at the forefront of developing disease-modifying peptides targeted at inhibiting the formation and aggregation of a toxic substance found in patients with Alzheimer's disease known as beta-amyloid fibrils and plaques.

 

Beta-amyloid fibrils and plaques occur normally within all aging brains.  But, unlike the normal aging brain, Alzheimer's disease brains form and accumulate amyloid plaques at a much greater rate and densities, thereby leading to a cascade affect that over time, results in the death of healthy brain cells and patient memory loss.

 

PeptiClere^™ is a peptide therapeutic approach that is anticipated to treat victims of Alzheimer's disease via intranasal application.  This compound has advanced through the discovery process and is currently in late pre-clinical stages of development.  Early in vitro and animal model results have provided support for the ongoing development of this promising treatment for Alzheimer's disease.
